For the external facade cladding, several indicators are the most important:
-> Mechanical resistance The material successfully withstands all types of loads: bending, impact, abrasion and compression. The minimum strength indicators are M400 (i.e. 400 kg of force per 1 Cm square). The maximum is a strength value of M800. For comparison: the strength of an average facing brick is M250.
-> Frost resistance Tests have shown that, subject to its integrity, the material withstands up to 150 freezing and thawing cycles. If you look at old 1950s-1960s buildings clad with clinker, it becomes clear that in practice this figure is much higher. Frost resistance rates increase due to the material’s low moisture absorption, which averages 2-4%.
- long service life, which is on average 40-50 years;
- resistance to weathering, including wind and UV rays;
- resistance to temperature variations; preservation of tile geometry;
- resistance to aggressive soils, mainly acid and alkaline, and absence of efflorescence on the tile surface;
- hygiene, biostability – no mould, fungus on the surface;
- fire resistance – non-combustible material;
- environmental compatibility of the material.
